What is our school about?

The Veterinary Assistant School will prepare the student for an entry-level position in a small animal veterinary hospital. A veterinary assistant (animal aide) is an animal care-focused position.

What is a veterinary assistant?

A veterinary assistant aids veterinarians and veterinary technicians in preventing and treating animal diseases. Veterinary assistants have a significant role in helping the veterinary hospital and other types of animal care-oriented facilities operate efficiently. Their main duties are:

  • Holding animals for treatments and tests
  • Front office support
  • Checking in animal patients
  • Educating the pet owners
  • Collecting and processing laboratory samples
  • Administering medicines
  • Keeping the animal patients and the hospital clean

The Veterinary Assistant School will prepare students for an entry-level position in a small animal veterinary hospital as a veterinary assistant (animal aide) or other animal care-focused opportunities. The Veterinary Assistant School will teach basic small animal veterinary hospital skills, such as:

• Anatomy and terminology

Will VAS help me find a job after I complete the program?
While a certificate from the VAS may help you get a job, the VAS cannot guarantee you will get a job. It is up to the graduate to procure employment. The VAS will assist you with job opportunities and interviewing skills.

Once you make an appointment for admission to the Veterinary Assistant Program, our staff will work with you on any other information needed for the acceptance process. Parents and friends are welcome to come along.
